The
2011
AMO Nationals were held in Sedona, Arizona, July 7
- 10th at the Poco Diablo Resort. The
Cactus
Cruisers AMC club was the host chapter and put on a fantastic event. Anyone who has been to Sedona knows it is one
of the most spectacular places on this earth. The
weather was good, and the Saturday show was great.
Parking for the show was on the Grass
Fairways of the 9 hole chipping course that is part of the
resort.
An
estimated 80 AMCs participated in the show and AMXs
predominated. Also at the show was a
great look 69 Rambler American Station Wagon that AMC should have
built, but
never did. All late model American wagons
were 4 doors and AMC never built a late 60's 2 door wagon, let alone a
SC
Rambler. This is one great looking car
that looks like a professionally built car.
The 1966 prototype for the AMX was also at the show and received a lot
of attention. Several Marlin Club members attended the show but
the only
Marlin on the show field was Rosie and Chuck Hughes’ 1965 Marlin which
they
trailered from Dayton OH. Joe and Peggy
Howard’s
Marlin does not have A/C so they drove their 1986 Eagle Wagon from New
Hampshire and received the long distance award. Kevin
and Jennifer Wright flew in for the show and some
vacation time in
Arizona and did not have their Marlin. David
Evangelinsti came up from Phoenix for the Saturday
show without his Marlin.
